Yahoo Finance has concluded its collaboration with Polymarket, just under a year after the two companies joined forces. The dedicated section for Polymarket was removed from the Yahoo Finance platform in April, as reported by Bloomberg.
The partnership, which commenced in November 2025, positioned Polymarket as Yahoo Finance's exclusive prediction market partner. This agreement featured a dedicated hub showcasing Polymarket's probability data related to significant economic, governmental, and market events, alongside pertinent news, quotes, and analysis from Yahoo Finance.
A spokesperson from Yahoo stated, “We had a previous partnership with Polymarket to display relevant prediction market data across Yahoo Finance. That specific agreement has ended, but Polymarket remains an advertising partner with us, and we are open to similar collaborations in the future.”
The termination of the Yahoo Finance partnership occurs amidst ongoing efforts by prediction market operators to forge alliances with financial and media entities. Earlier this year, Polymarket secured a deal with Dow Jones to supply event contract data for its platforms, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Investor's Business Daily, and MarketWatch.
Both Polymarket and its competitor Kalshi have also established agreements with Google Finance. Additionally, Kalshi has formed partnerships with CNN, CNBC, and Fox Corp.
Prediction markets enable users to speculate on various outcomes, such as sports results, elections, and financial trends. Both Polymarket and Kalshi assert that their data can improve journalistic practices, while some critics argue that the data may not accurately reflect public sentiment.
However, both companies have encountered regulatory challenges, facing claims from state regulators that their operations breach local gambling laws. They maintain that they monitor for illicit trading and should be regulated as derivatives exchanges under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Media outlets have also been scrutinized for leveraging these partnerships to create new revenue channels. Typically, prediction market operators compensate media companies for integrating their data, while some news organizations earn referral fees for directing users to these markets.
Despite the end of its partnership with Yahoo Finance, Polymarket continues to collaborate with various sports and entertainment organizations, including Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the NHL, and UFC.
