Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Unveils $47 Million Room Renovation

Seneca Niagara Resorts & Casino in Western New York is embarking on a significant $47 million renovation project for its guest accommodations.

The upgrade will involve a complete overhaul of 594 hotel rooms and suites, set to commence in October. This extensive renovation will be executed in phases, focusing on three floors at a time, ultimately revitalizing 22 floors and covering a total area of 394,000 square feet in the largest hotel in the region. The entire project is anticipated to conclude by December 2027.

Kevin Nephew, President and CEO of Seneca Resorts & Casinos (SRC), emphasized that this renovation aims to enhance the resort's inviting ambiance. He stated, “Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino serves as a gateway to unique and unforgettable experiences for our guests. This latest enhancement will further elevate our luxurious atmosphere, ensuring every stay is even more remarkable.”

According to SRC, the renovation will impact all but 10 of the resort's 604 rooms, with only the Penthouse suites remaining untouched.

To minimize disruptions during the renovation, SRC has planned the project with guest comfort in mind. Nephew assured that the phased approach will allow most rooms to remain available throughout the construction. Additionally, designated construction elevators and scheduled work hours will be implemented to maintain a world-class experience for guests during this period.

The 26-story resort offers more than just accommodations; it features various dining options, an indoor pool, a fitness center, upscale retail shops, and a comprehensive range of salon and spa services. It also includes the 2,300-seat Seneca Niagara Event Center, professional meeting spaces, and banquet facilities.

The room upgrades are expected to strengthen Seneca Niagara's competitive position in the market. In 2025, the resort reported over 181,000 room stays, and by August 2026, it had already recorded approximately 141,000 check-ins.

Seneca Niagara is a favored destination for travelers from the U.S., Canada, and beyond. However, recent political tensions, including tariffs and threats regarding statehood, have led many Canadians to reconsider their visits, shifting their spending towards domestic or international alternatives. Even Las Vegas has felt the impact, prompting local businesses to launch promotions aimed at attracting Canadian tourists.

When asked about the potential decline in Canadian visitors, Nephew's response was cautious, reflecting the uncertainty brought on by fluctuations due to events like the COVID-19 pandemic and other global political changes.
