The SBC Summit Europe is set to convene at RAI Amsterdam from April 19 to 21, 2027, uniting businesses, regulators, and policymakers who are pivotal in defining the future of regulated gambling across Europe.

Initially announced in February, this new event aims to gather over 3,000 representatives from operators engaged in regulated markets throughout Europe. The initiative is bolstered by a comprehensive program designed to enhance participation from both national and international gaming regulators.

The primary goal is to establish a collaborative platform for the regulated gambling sector in Europe, bringing together those responsible for operating, overseeing, and advancing licensed markets during a period of significant regulatory and commercial transformation.

SBC's CEO and Founder, Rasmus Sojmark, emphasized the complexity of the European gambling landscape, stating, “Europe is not a single gambling market; it consists of various regulated markets, each at different developmental stages and facing unique challenges related to taxation, advertising, player protection, evolving consumer behavior, AI, technology, and channelization.”

He further noted the value of uniting these markets, saying, “We want SBC Summit Europe to be a space where operators, regulators, and other stakeholders in the regulatory ecosystem can engage meaningfully. This includes major European operators, national brands, regulators, associations, policymakers, and the broader industry all convening in Amsterdam.”

The event aims to attract over 3,000 operator representatives, focusing on increasing the involvement of licensed operators from Europe’s key regulated jurisdictions. SBC plans to leverage its recent partnerships with the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) and the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), fostering relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to bring gaming authority representatives to Amsterdam. This will facilitate direct conversations between regulators and the businesses operating in their respective markets.

Sojmark remarked, “Regulation has emerged as a critical issue for the European gambling sector. We are witnessing varied approaches across the continent, with the implications of these decisions leading to a fragmented market.”

He highlighted the need for platforms where experiences can be shared openly, asking, “What can one market learn from another? Which strategies are effective? How can we protect players while maintaining a competitive regulated industry? And how can regulators and operators collaborate to keep consumers within the licensed market?”

The conference agenda will reflect the diverse commercial and regulatory environment in Europe, analyzing both established markets and newly regulated jurisdictions. Topics for discussion will include channelization, taxation, advertising restrictions, player protection, affordability, black-market competition, licensing, compliance, and the effects of new technology. Dedicated sessions will allow delegates to delve deeper into specific European jurisdictions.

Additionally, the summit will provide regulators from various countries with opportunities to share insights and compare their approaches, while offering operators a chance to learn about regulatory developments beyond their current markets.

Alongside these discussions, SBC Summit Europe will explore the commercial and technological trends shaping the future of regulated gaming in Europe, including compliance technology, payment systems, sports betting platforms, and data management.
