Operators Ladbrokes and William Hill, along with Betfred owner Fred Done, have publicly warned about the risks of the illegal market. However, they were reportedly receiving income from a deal with one of the largest offshore online casino networks, Santeda, according to The Guardian, referencing an investigation by Casino Secrets.
The deal was made in 2022 by betting content provider SIS, which is collectively owned by these three shareholders. Under the terms of the agreement, SIS provided the network's sites with broadcasts of horse racing, dog racing, and esports, as well as data for calculating bets, in exchange for a percentage of the revenue from lost bets.
Sources from The Guardian indicate that the operators themselves were unaware of the deal, and SIS declined to comment on whether the contract is still active.
