In late August, RND discovered that Google autocomplete suggestions for the term 'wetten' (to bet) included queries related to sports betting that bypassed Germany's national restrictions systems, OASIS and LUGAS.
According to RND, even general betting queries led Google to suggest options that directed users to illegal operators in the country.
Google informed RND that these suggestions are based on actual user queries. Following the publication's inquiries, some of these suggestions disappeared. However, a follow-up check on September 22 for the term 'sportwetten' revealed that the issue persists.
