In the Netherlands, the legal service Bonnetje, associated with rapper Boof, has announced a mass lawsuit against iGaming operators that operated in the country prior to the legalization of online gambling. The campaign is fronted by former footballer Andy van der Meyde, who played for FC Internazionale (Milan) and AFC Ajax, and has previously served as a brand ambassador for legal operators BetCity and TOTO.

In 2025, several Dutch courts ruled that contracts between players and illegal operators were invalid and ordered the latter to compensate for losses. However, the Advocate General of the Dutch Supreme Court stated in a non-binding opinion in November 2025 that such contracts retain legal force. The Supreme Court is expected to deliver a final ruling by the end of 2026.
