Steam has welcomed a new roguelike card game titled Dungeon Clawler, developed by the Swiss indie studio Stray Fawn Studio and published by Stray Fawn Publishing, as reported by iGN.
In this game, players embark on a solo quest through a dungeon to reclaim a paw taken by its master, which also serves as a lucky talisman. Instead of the paw, the hero must wield a mechanical claw that allows two attempts per turn to draw weapons, shields, and items from a machine loaded with their deck. The earned gold coins can be spent on upgrading items and at the dungeon's slot machines, including a pachinko machine.
The full version of the game was released on April 30, 2026, after a year and a half of early access. The dungeon consists of 20 floors, and the storyline follows the starting hero, Sir Bunalot, a rabbit knight who lost all his savings to gambling before venturing into the dungeon. Players can choose from over a dozen heroes.
As players progress, they face additional challenges based on their debt level to the dungeon's master, with each subsequent hero unlocking after defeating the previous one. Alongside the claw, players will encounter a slot machine offering a jackpot of 100 coins for a spin cost of one coin, a fortune wheel for four coins, and a machine dispensing capsules with random bonuses for gameplay.
According to co-founder Philomena Schwab, the idea for the game emerged after a trip to the Tokyo Game Show, where the team became fascinated by Japanese claw machines and capsule toys. The studio reported that within the first two weeks of its release in November 2024, the game sold over 100,000 copies on Steam and mobile devices, and prior to launch, it garnered 185,000 wishlist additions. The game is priced at $14.99 and currently holds a 'very positive' rating with 3,733 user reviews. However, there are no options for real money betting within the game.
