DraftKings Unveils DK Replay for Historical MLB Betting in Oregon

DraftKings has officially launched its latest offering, DK Replay, in Oregon, enabling users to place bets on historical Major League Baseball (MLB) at-bats.

This innovative product, which introduces “historical betting markets,” went live on Thursday, March 25, following approval from the Oregon Lottery. The company is also considering further expansions, contingent upon regulatory permissions. A representative from DraftKings confirmed that this feature falls under the category of sports betting.

Corey Gottlieb, the Chief Product Officer at DraftKings, expressed excitement about the new experience DK Replay provides to customers. “With DK Replay, we’re able to offer an experience that will allow customers to enjoy their favorite sports no matter the time of year,” he stated.

Accessible through the DraftKings Sportsbook app in Oregon, DK Replay presents users with anonymized matchups between pitchers and batters. Each player is rated with a bronze, silver, or gold designation based on essential statistics from the original game, including batting averages, slugging percentages, earned run averages (ERA), and strikeouts per nine innings. These statistics help users evaluate the matchups effectively.

Bettors can place wagers during a pitch clock window, predicting whether the next pitch will be a ball, strike, or in-play. The pitch is then animated, and the historical outcome determines the result; if it aligns with the chosen option, the bet wins.

If no bet is made before the timer runs out, full details of the matchup are disclosed, including a recap of the original at-bat, featuring the date, pitcher, and batter involved.

The dataset encompasses hundreds of thousands of historical plate appearances, providing a steady stream of betting opportunities independent of the live sports calendar.

DK Replay is part of DraftKings’ broader strategy to create a comprehensive “Super App,” which will integrate online sports betting, prediction markets, casino games, and lottery products. Recently, DraftKings informed customers that the DK Horse app will also be incorporated into this main application.

The aim of the “Super App” is to enhance user engagement and facilitate cross-selling across various betting verticals, keeping users engaged within a single integrated platform.

In this context, DK Replay introduces a new dimension of continuous in-app betting content.

DraftKings is not the first to offer a product akin to historical betting; in October 2025, Hard Rock Bet launched “Real Money Games powered by Past Motor Racing” in Florida. This product allows users to bet on games that mimic slot machines, with outcomes linked to historical NASCAR events rather than random number generation.

While both products utilize historical data, their approaches differ significantly. DK Replay is structured as a sports betting product focusing on micro-bets related to pitch-by-pitch MLB outcomes, resembling live betting. In contrast, Hard Rock’s offering is designed for a casino-style experience with rapid gameplay based on racing data.

This evolution in historical betting products raises important regulatory and market implications.
