The BiS SiGMA South America event is set to attract an audience of 18,500 attendees, featuring over 400 exhibitors and sponsors, alongside 250 speakers across three stages. This significant gathering commences today, April 7, at the Transamerica Expocenter.
Formerly known as BiS SiGMA Americas, the event has been rebranded to reflect the launch of a new show in Mexico by the SiGMA Group. It comes at a pivotal time for Brazil's iGaming sector, coinciding with the second anniversary of the country's regulated online betting market and a presidential election year in 2026. The election results could influence regulations affecting taxation and advertising within the industry.
The event's goal is to facilitate networking among operators, providers, and regulators, while fostering discussions on strategies for businesses to differentiate themselves in a competitive landscape.
Alessandro Valente, chairman and co-founder of the event, emphasized the importance of regulation, stating, “Reaching one year of regulation is a crucial milestone for the Brazilian market. Clear regulations provide legal certainty, encourage investment, and create a more responsible environment for all involved.”
Valente added that BiS SiGMA South America was established to enhance dialogue among key industry stakeholders and to demonstrate that regulation and transparency can help overcome the stigma associated with the betting industry.
The official opening ceremony is slated for 11:20 a.m., featuring speeches from Valente, Eman Pulis (founder of the SiGMA Group), Carlos Cardama (co-founder of BiS SiGMA South America), and Rubens Barrichello (former Formula 1 driver and non-executive director at SOFTSWISS for Latin America).
The conference will address various topics throughout the day, including betting regulations, combating illegal markets, sports integrity, compliance, World Cup market expectations, and responsible gambling practices. Flávio Figueiredo, managing director of BiS SiGMA South America, stated, “Our conferences aim to create an optimal environment for informed discussions, uniting regulators, operators, experts, and industry representatives to explore pathways and share insights for a more transparent, safe, and sustainable sector.”
Over the three days, key regulators such as Giovanni Rocco Neto, Fábio Macorin, Daniel Romanowski, Fabíola Esteves, and Petrônio Rolim will present. Industry insights will be provided by notable figures including Plínio Lemos Jorge, Guilherme Figueiredo, Darwin Filho, Leonardo Martins, Simon Westbury, and Fernando Justus Fischer.
Additionally, six renowned football legends will be present: Diego Lugano, Zinho, Aloísio Chulapa, Luizão, Müller, and Vampeta. Lugano, Aloísio, and Luizão will participate in a panel discussion on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m., while Luizão, Müller, and Vampeta are scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, at 5:05 p.m.
