Trinidad and Tobago Approves iGaming for Foreign Players

On September 30, the House of Representatives in Trinidad and Tobago unanimously approved a financial minister's order allowing local iGaming operators to accept players from abroad, as reported by Trinidad Express.

This move could position the country as a new offshore jurisdiction in the Caribbean, according to industry analysts.

The order still requires Senate approval, and the Gaming and Betting Control Commission will be responsible for issuing licenses. Currently, a 2021 law prohibits the acceptance of foreign players, with violators facing fines of up to $1.47 million and up to ten years in prison.

The finance minister believes that licensing will legalize operators' activities and generate additional tax revenue for the budget. According to his estimates, by 2025, state revenues from regulated gambling could reach $10.7 million.
