Caesars Halts Credit Card Deposits Amid Regulatory Changes

Caesars Entertainment has ceased accepting credit card deposits across its online gambling platforms in the United States. This decision aligns with a trend among major operators who have eliminated this payment method due to increasing regulatory scrutiny.

The new policy is applicable to all Caesars Digital platforms and applications within the U.S., which include Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Racebook, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, Horseshoe Casino, William Hill Sportsbook, and World Series of Poker Online. However, it does not extend to Caesars' online services in Puerto Rico or Ontario.

A spokesperson for Caesars commented, “This change follows months of independent review and careful evaluation that began last fall, during which we closely assessed our deposit processes and customer preferences.”

They added, “By streamlining our payment options, we are simplifying the deposit experience, improving operational efficiency, and reinforcing our commitment to delivering a seamless, customer-first digital experience.”

This shift mirrors similar actions taken by other prominent U.S. gambling operators. For instance, DraftKings eliminated credit card deposits for sports betting and online casino offerings nationwide in August 2025. FanDuel followed suit on March 2, 2026, while BetMGM began phasing out credit card deposits later that month. Bet365 also ended this payment option across the U.S. on April 13.

In contrast, Fanatics Betting and Gaming has never accepted credit cards for online sports betting or casino operations since its U.S. launch. Like Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Bet365 continue to accept credit cards in Ontario’s regulated market.

This industry-wide change comes as more states in the U.S. are moving to restrict credit card usage for online gambling. States such as Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia have already prohibited credit card use for online sports betting.

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed House Bill 515 into law on April 13 after it received unanimous approval from the state Senate in March. Similarly, Maine Governor Janet Mills enacted Legislative Document 2080 in early April, banning credit cards for the state’s current online sports betting market and its anticipated online casino market.

Additionally, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York are considering legislation this year to prohibit credit card deposits for online sports betting.

This issue has also attracted federal attention, with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren reaching out to several sports betting companies before the Super Bowl to inquire about their credit card policies. She noted that some users reported being unaware that deposits made via credit card could incur cash advance fees and other charges.
