On July 16, the Argentine Association of State Lotteries and Casinos (ALEA) unveiled an updated code of responsible marketing communications in online gambling. This new code includes a dedicated chapter on the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The document prohibits the use of AI to identify players' financial vulnerabilities and impulsiveness for targeting purposes. It also bans the automatic awarding of bonuses after losses or self-exclusion requests, as well as the use of emotion recognition technology to retain users.
Additionally, the code requires operators to include in their contracts with affiliates, streamers, and agencies the responsibility for the content they publish. They must have the right to immediately remove any unauthorized materials. Furthermore, wagering requirements and bonus limits must be disclosed before player registration.
Joining the code is voluntary, but it has already been adopted by seven regional regulators, including LOTBA and the Lottery and Casino Institute of Buenos Aires Province. Operators such as Betsson, Betano, and BetWarrior have signed the document.
