In Uzbekistan, three residents of Samarkand have been arrested for organizing the acceptance of deposits and withdrawal of funds for players of unnamed iGaming sites. According to the Interior Ministry of the Samarkand region, the suspects, born in 1981, 1990, and 2001, opened two branches of payment acceptance points in the city, with a turnover exceeding $3.8 million.
One of the suspects was apprehended while accepting $25 from a client to top up their account with one of the operators.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees under part 1 of the article on organizing and conducting gambling and other risk-based games, which could result in up to 7 years of imprisonment. The oldest among them had previously been convicted for hooliganism.
