Terrible's has finalized a deal with the Primm family to manage its hotel-casino establishments in Primm, Nevada. This agreement comes in the wake of a closure notice issued by the previous operator, Affinity Gaming.
The arrangement encompasses the Primm Valley Casino Resort, Oasis Apartments, The Lotto Store, and other related properties situated along the Nevada-California border. The Primm family made the announcement on Tuesday, revealing their collaboration with the Las Vegas-based Terrible's and the Herbst family to oversee these assets, which have been in their possession since the 1950s.
This operating agreement follows a notification from Affinity Gaming and Z Capital on May 5, which informed employees, residents, and Nevada gaming regulators that the properties they had managed for nearly 15 years were set to close on July 4.
Cory Clemetson, grandson of Primm's founder Ernie Primm and president of the Primm South Real Estate Company, stated that both the Primm and Herbst families are committed to preventing the closure of the currently operating properties by that deadline.
“We’re thrilled to have secured such a qualified and like-minded partner for our Primm properties, especially following that unfortunate announcement,” Clemetson remarked.
Terrible's emphasized that ensuring continuity for employees, residents, guests, and business partners will be their top priority.
“Primm holds a special place in Nevada’s history and is a significant waypoint for countless travelers over the years. We see immense potential to rejuvenate these properties through our operational collaboration with the Primm family,” said a representative from Terrible's.
“Our immediate focus is on maintaining stability for current employees, residents, guests, and business partners while laying a strong groundwork for future development. From the outset, our team will prioritize enhancing operations, improving customer experiences, and exploring investment opportunities in the properties and their surroundings.”
“We believe Primm can once again emerge as a lively travel destination along Interstate 15, and we are eager to embark on that journey. Our aim is clear: we want Primm to be the first stop for travelers crossing the state line and the final stop on their way home, creating lasting memories and a strong desire to return,” the representative added.
Clemetson noted that the Primm family owns extensive land and businesses in the border town and received interest from various operators looking to partner on the properties.
Ultimately, they chose Terrible's, which is linked to the Herbst family, a well-established business group in Nevada involved in gaming, retail, fuel, hospitality, and travel services.
Clemetson expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Terrible's and the Herbst family to manage these vital properties for Southern Nevada, emphasizing their importance to the local economy and community.
“Our families share common goals for Primm,” Clemetson stated. “While we appreciated the interest from many qualified operators, we were particularly impressed by Terrible's commitment to our vision and confidence in Primm's long-term success.”
In a further statement, Clemetson added, “We believe Primm has a promising future and look forward to collaborating for years to modernize, invigorate, and enhance our properties.”
Tim Herbst, President of Terrible's, remarked, “Primm has long been a notable destination in Nevada. This partnership underscores our dedication to preserving its legacy while fostering new growth, investment, and tourism opportunities for the future. We believe Primm’s best days are yet to come.”
