Resorts World NYC Expands Gaming Floor Amid Revenue Surge

Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) is advancing its $5.5 billion expansion plan by unveiling an enlarged gaming area on the first floor, which now includes an additional 1,400 slot machines. This expansion comes in response to a significant increase in weekly table game revenue, which has more than doubled since RWNYC became New York City's first fully operational commercial casino.

Only three months after introducing live table games, RWNYC is set to celebrate the groundbreaking of the next phase of its development later today. According to Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East, the slot machines have proven to be exceptionally popular, generating $230 million in gross gaming revenue during the first 11 weeks of operation.

The upcoming Phase Two of the project will feature a 400-room hotel tower and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue. The expansion includes a new gaming section called Dragon Den, which boasts 114 Aristocrat titles and 48 Dragon Link machines.

Overall, the long-term redevelopment plan aims to create a 350,000-square-foot casino with 6,000 slot machines and 800 live table games, along with 2,000 hotel rooms and extensive public green spaces. Once completed, it is projected to be the largest casino in the United States.

Since its inception in 2011, Resorts World has contributed over $5 billion to New York's public education system and has committed $2.5 billion to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, in addition to a $2 billion community benefits package.

The growth in table game revenue follows the launch of live games on April 28, marking a pivotal moment in the effort to establish full-scale casino gaming in New York City. Although initial performance was deemed underwhelming, weekly revenues have shown consistent improvement, with table game gross gaming revenue rising from approximately $4.9 million in the first week to over $10.4 million by mid-July.

In comparison, weekly slot revenue has remained steady, ranging between $20 million and $22 million. Overall, combined weekly gaming revenue has increased from $27.2 million to about $30.8 million, indicating that the growth has largely been fueled by the introduction of table games.

RWNYC is one of three projects that received downstate casino licenses in December 2025, alongside Bally’s Bronx and the Metropolitan Park project. Unlike the other two, RWNYC was already operational as a racino, allowing for a smoother transition to a full commercial casino.

Bally’s Bronx has made progress recently, purchasing the Ferry Point site for $157 million and filing construction permit applications for its waterfront casino resort, which is slated to open in 2030. Meanwhile, pre-construction activities for Metropolitan Park began earlier this year, despite some early delays.
