The prediction markets platform Polymarket has announced the launch of the Polymarket Institute, aimed at independent academic research into prediction markets. Brian Jabarian, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, has been appointed as the scientific director, while Kai Brush, the head of data at Polymarket, will serve as the managing director.
The institute will introduce the Polymarket Science Fellowship program for doctoral students, providing funding and access to the platform's data. Research areas will include the quality of predictions, market microstructure, outcome integrity, cryptography, AI, elections, and macroeconomics. The company emphasizes the independence of researchers, stating that fellows are prohibited from trading on Polymarket and similar platforms during the program.
In parallel, Polymarket will expand public access to market data through a series of APIs, including application data, historical quotes, and aggregate blockchain statistics.
