On April 30, the Ukrainian regulator PlayCity launched an online tool on its website for reporting illegal gambling advertisements. Users can file complaints about ads found on social media, websites, television, radio, and other media, as well as outdoor advertising and public places.
When a complaint is made about stories and similar temporary content on social media, the system automatically saves the material, allowing for verification even after it disappears from the profile.
Once a violation is confirmed, PlayCity sends a request to social media platforms to block the content. To expedite the process, the regulator collaborates with key platforms including Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, Viber, and Twitch. Pages of distributors may be blocked if they systematically or repeatedly post such advertisements. Offenders face fines after identifying the responsible party through state registries or with the involvement of law enforcement agencies.
