Indonesian Blogger Faces Two Years for Promoting Illegal iGaming

The Indonesian prosecutor's office has requested a two-year prison sentence for an Instagram blogger from Surabaya for promoting an unlicensed iGaming site, according to the Memorandum publication.

The accused received three transfers totaling $112 via the DANA electronic wallet for advertising on her Instagram account. The prosecution claims she posted these ads for extra income from October to December 2025, until her actions were halted by the police.

The East Java Cyber Police arrested the blogger at her rented accommodation and seized her smartphone, which contained access to her Instagram, WhatsApp accounts, and the DANA wallet, along with transaction statements. The charges are based on articles regarding providing access to online gambling without permission and participating in illegal gambling activities. The prosecution insists that her posts were promotional and served as a channel to engage the audience in illegal gambling for her personal gain.
