In Brazil, an amendment to President Lula da Silva's decree has been introduced, proposing a ban on online casinos while maintaining the legality of betting on official sports events.
As of the time of publication, the decree has garnered support from 482,379 citizens on the Senate's e-Cidadania portal, compared to 80,978 against it.
A total of 42 amendments have been submitted to the decree. One of these amendments suggests that iGaming operators will not be compensated for the licensing fees they have already paid.
The deadline for submitting amendments has been extended until October 13, and the parliamentary review of the decree is set to be completed by November 23.
