BetHog to Cease Operations, Focus on AI Dealer Games

BetHog, the crypto casino co-founded by FanDuel's Nigel Eccles, will cease operations on July 30. The company will fully concentrate on its provider, Sentient Studios, which specializes in live games featuring AI dealers.

Players will be able to withdraw their funds independently until August 31. After this date, withdrawals will only be possible through customer support.

The decision to close BetHog comes just three months after securing $10 million in investments to launch its B2B segment. However, the closure is not due to poor performance but rather a high demand from operators eager to quickly launch branded live games without upfront costs and minimal monthly payments, Eccles explained to Gambling Insider.

Post-closure, the entire engineering team will focus on AI dealers. In the two available games (blackjack and baccarat), dealers already respond to events at the table. The company plans to enhance this by adding facial expressions and gestures, as well as voiceovers in 74 languages, up from the current six. Currently, the provider has no commercial agreements, as negotiations with operators are still ongoing.
