The gambling regulator in Angola, ISJ, has launched a transitional regime effective July 1, allowing gaming operators with expired licenses to continue operations until new licenses are issued under the upcoming 2024 gambling law.
This regime applies to companies whose licenses expired under the new law, as well as operators with licenses that lapsed before its enactment, provided they can document that they notified the regulator of their intention to continue operations before their licenses expired.
Operators are required to submit applications for temporary licenses within 30 working days, with submissions accepted exclusively through the state oversight system, SSJ. The transitional regime will remain in effect until authorities publish regulations for the law and conduct licensing tenders. The ISJ presented the conditions on June 29 during a meeting with gaming operators at the Catholic University of Angola.
