YouTube has launched a testing phase for its new feature, Ask YouTube, in the United States. This conversational search mode operates similarly to the AI Mode in Google Search, enhancing the standard search experience.
The Ask YouTube function provides answers to complex queries by curating full-length videos, Shorts, relevant clips with timestamps, and text summaries. Users can find the Ask YouTube button next to the search bar, which, when clicked without entering text, opens a complete page with suggested search queries.
This service relies on YouTube's video content and current information from the internet. During a session, users can ask follow-up questions for more detailed responses. The videos displayed in the answers include the title of the video and the creator's channel.
Access to Ask YouTube is available to YouTube Premium subscribers over 18 years old in the U.S. through activation on youtube.com/new. Currently, the testing is limited to the English language and the desktop version of the service.
