In the UK, iGaming operator William Hill (Evoke) experienced a technical glitch in its Jackpot Drop mechanism. This issue led to erroneous deposits of millions of pounds into the accounts of some users.
Some players managed to withdraw funds before the operator froze the affected accounts and temporarily disabled the feature. Following the discovery of the problem, the operator sent letters to these clients requesting the return of the funds within three days.
As part of a pre-litigation settlement agreement, William Hill offered to let users keep 11% of the withdrawn amount. However, several players have publicly expressed their intention to sue the operator.
