In Brazil, the announcement of a ban on betting and online casinos has led to a dramatic increase in illegal iGaming websites. Within just three days of the decree, 428 new illegal sites emerged, according to industry publication BNLData, referencing the monitoring platform Bet Legal.
From September 21 to 24, an average of 62 new sites were launched daily. However, following the signing of the decree, this number skyrocketed to 143 new sites per day. For comparison, during June to August, the industry association ANJL reported an average of only 13.7 new illegal domains per day.
