Belarus Tightens Gambling Advertising Regulations

The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) in Belarus has introduced a draft law aimed at tightening the rules surrounding gambling advertising in the country.

This project imposes temporary restrictions on the advertising of online gambling, prize draws, lotteries, and gambling establishments, including iGaming operators, on TV and radio. Additionally, the internet advertising of these products may face bans with certain exceptions, while advertising on public transport, taxis, and private vehicles could be completely prohibited.

Furthermore, the draft law prohibits the use of images of people and animals in gambling advertisements and restricts the promotion of bonuses. As of the publication date, the document is undergoing coordination with relevant authorities. MART has not fully disclosed the list of measures or specific time frames for the advertising bans on TV and radio, nor the exceptions for online advertising.

iGN editorial notes that the document remains a draft, and its current terms and the eventual adoption of the law are not guaranteed.
