The Bangladesh Bank, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and mobile financial service operator bKash, has launched a comprehensive information campaign against online gambling, primarily aimed at the youth.
The campaign materials are being broadcast on television channels, published in newspapers, and shared on social media, emphasizing legal norms and the penalties involved. These penalties include imprisonment for up to two years, fines of up to $80,900, and detention without a warrant.
Participation in online gambling, as well as the creation, management, and promotion of iGaming operators, including on social media, is subject to these punishments.
