The Ministry of Digital Transformation in Ukraine has launched a digital licensing service for the gambling industry through the Diia portal. This allows businesses to obtain licenses for organizing and conducting gambling activities entirely online, eliminating the need for paper documents and offline interactions with the government.
Through the Diia portal, applications for licenses can be submitted for various gambling activities, including casinos, sports betting, gaming halls, online poker, and B2B gambling services. However, online casinos are not included in this list.
Applications are signed with a digital signature and reviewed by the regulator, PlayCity. Applicants receive the decision regarding the issuance or denial of the license online via Diia. PlayCity has also indicated that the next step will involve updating the relevant legislation in the gambling sector to enhance the scrutiny of companies applying for licenses, particularly concerning their reputation and integrity.
