The Ukrainian regulator, PlayCity, has imposed a hefty fine on blogger Valdemar De Salo, who boasts 141.2k followers on TikTok. The fine amounts to 5.2 million UAH (approximately $124,000) due to his illegal promotion of gambling through various social media platforms including Telegram, YouTube, Kick, and TikTok.
According to the regulator, the advertisements were disseminated on social networks without the status of media for an audience aged 21 and over. They were presented in the form of native integrations and lacked the mandatory warning about the risks of gambling addiction, as well as information about the gambling operator's license.
The identity of the violator was established with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Khmelnytskyi region.
