Ts'elxwéyeqw Tribe Acquires Elements Casino Chilliwack

A consortium representing the Ts'elxwéyeqw Tribe has successfully completed the purchase of Elements Casino Chilliwack from Great Canadian Entertainment.

This acquisition, initially revealed in November 2025, was finalized on July 28 through an entity linked to Ts'elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd. The transaction aligns with Great Canadian's strategy to divest its British Columbia casino properties to First Nations.

The Ts'elxwéyeqw Tribe consists of seven First Nation communities and is recognized as the First People of the Chilliwack River watershed. Their ancestral land covers around 95,000 hectares in the Central Fraser Valley of British Columbia, extending into parts of the Canada-US border.

Since its opening in 2012, Elements Casino Chilliwack has been a popular destination in the Fraser Valley, featuring over 300 slot machines, various live and electronic table games, bingo, dining options, and live entertainment.

Chief David Jimmie, President of Ts'elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd., commented, “Our communities have developed a diverse business portfolio over the years, including ventures in commercial real estate, sustainable forestry, environmental stewardship, cultural conservation, and energy infrastructure. This acquisition represents a significant step in our growth. Elements Casino Chilliwack is a well-established business, and we are excited to incorporate gaming and hospitality into our offerings. This deal demonstrates the capabilities of our communities in the competitive business landscape.”

Matt Anfinson, CEO of Great Canadian Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the transition, stating, “We are delighted to welcome the Ts'elxwéyeqw Group to British Columbia's gaming sector. Since the opening of Elements Casino Chilliwack in 2012, we have been honored to be part of the Chilliwack community, and we are confident that under the leadership of the Ts'elxwéyeqw Group, the business will embark on an exciting new journey.”

He further added, “For the team members, guests of Elements Casino Chilliwack, and the local community, we believe there is no better steward for the business than the Ts'elxwéyeqw Group.”

In March, Great Canadian Entertainment announced it had reached an agreement to sell its eighth casino property in British Columbia to a First Nation.
