On the night of August 4, the messaging app Telegram was removed from the App Store worldwide, affecting users in Russia, the USA, India, and Turkey. Apple stated that the app was taken down after a review revealed content violating their rules against materials depicting sexualized violence against children.
According to Apple, the developer removed the offending content and blocked the user who posted it, leading to the app's return to the store in all regions, including Russia. Telegram was absent from the App Store for several hours, but the messenger continued to function on already installed devices and remained available for download on Google Play, RuStore, and AppGallery. Telegram has also confirmed the restoration of the app.
