In a recent interview with the YouTube channel "Business on a Napkin," designer Artemy Lebedev stated that he fundamentally does not work with bookmakers, despite their willingness to pay him substantial sums. Lebedev described the betting industry as vile, explaining that it devastates the already impoverished and pushes those on the brink of despair into the abyss.
He contrasted betting with casinos, which he views as businesses for the wealthy, where patrons come to spend a few hundred. According to him, those who turn to bookmakers are often those who have scraped the bottom and are trying to catch luck by using dishonest methods. Lebedev expressed that he does not want to support such a business.
Interestingly, the Artemy Lebedev Studio developed a logo, corporate identity, and website for the Russian bookmaker 888.ru from 2016 to 2018, which closed in 2021. The case study detailing the creation process is still published on the studio's website.
