DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics have collectively invested $41 million into the super PAC Win for America, as revealed by recent filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). This initiative aims to influence pivotal state elections, particularly in Texas, Georgia, and other regions.
Of the total contributions, FanDuel provided $19.5 million, DraftKings contributed $17.5 million, and Fanatics added $4 million. Win for America has allocated a significant portion of these funds to two affiliated super PACs that are politically aligned, aimed at shaping state-level policies regarding sports betting.
The distribution of funds has been primarily directed towards the American Conservative Fund, which is aligned with the Republican party, receiving $26.1 million, and the American Future PAC, which supports Democratic candidates, receiving $7.25 million.
In terms of political strategy, the American Conservative Fund has been particularly active, channeling substantial resources into campaign efforts in Georgia, Texas, and Pennsylvania. Notable expenditures include $6 million for American Conservative Fund Action in Georgia, $3.5 million for the Texas Conservative Fund, and $3 million for initiatives in Pennsylvania.
These investments highlight a concerted effort to advocate for sports betting legalization in Georgia and Texas, both of which are among the largest states in the U.S. without legal sports betting. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania is considering potential tax hikes for sportsbook operators.
Beyond direct contributions to state committees, the PAC has also focused on campaign execution and voter outreach, including over $2 million allocated to Del Cielo Media for media placements and more than $1 million to Advocacy Marketing Partners for advertising efforts.
On the Democratic side, the American Future PAC has utilized its $7.25 million primarily for advertising and campaign infrastructure, with significant spending on digital and traditional media advertising.
While the American Future PAC has not made direct contributions to state political committees, reports indicate it has spent up to $2.5 million supporting candidates in Illinois legislative primaries, particularly in the Chicago area.
The ongoing investments in these states underscore the increasing political pressure and discussions surrounding the expansion of sports betting, especially in Texas and Georgia, where there is considerable potential for market growth.
