Cybersecurity Expert Claims Responsibility for MGA Hack

A Berlin-based cybersecurity expert, Lilith Wittmann, who is a member of the hacker group Chaos Computer Club, has claimed responsibility for the hack of the Maltese regulator, MGA.

In a post on LinkedIn on March 20 (which has since been removed by the platform), as well as on X, Wittmann stated that she has already shared the regulator's data with media partners and government representatives, although she did not specify the exact recipients.

Wittmann also promised to reveal what she called schemes aiding organized crime and warned of the immediate release of all available data should Maltese authorities pursue legal action against her.

The MGA condemned Wittmann's actions, labeling the accusations as unfounded. She faces up to 10 years in prison for unauthorized access to Maltese state resources.
