The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), under the Ministry of Digital Economy, has ordered the immediate blocking of access to 24 gambling operator websites that lack a local license.
This directive was issued following a notification from the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) under the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development. The list of blocked operators includes major names such as Stake, 1win, 1xBet, and many others.
According to the Gambling Regulation Act No. 17 of 2025, the operation and promotion of online gambling operators in Sri Lanka are only permissible with a local license. Any activity without such a license is considered an offense. The TRCSL has not disclosed any penalties or sanctions against the operators themselves.
