In a recent conversation, Sam Schwartz shared insights from his diverse career journey, which spans from Georgetown University to investment banking and now to launching a newsletter focused on prediction markets.
After leaving his role as an investment banking analyst at HSBC in June 2024, Schwartz was eager to explore new opportunities. His interest in prediction markets was sparked when he discovered Kalshi while preparing for the upcoming presidential election in the fall of 2024.
His enthusiasm grew when Kalshi announced in January 2025 that it would begin self-certifying contracts for sports events. This led him to investigate other platforms like ProphetX and Novig, both of which received CFTC approval as designated contract markets and derivatives clearing organizations.
A Georgetown graduate from 2022, Schwartz aimed to join one of these companies. After connecting with founders Jake Benzaquen and Dean Sisun, he became an operations associate at ProphetX in June 2025.
In April of this year, Schwartz took a bold step to establish his own newsletter, The PM Pulse, which aims to cover the rapidly evolving prediction market sector. With his background in investment banking and sports betting, he feels well-equipped to create a leading publication in this niche.
The inaugural edition of The PM Pulse was released on Substack on July 14, 2026. During a recent interview with Gambling Insider, Schwartz discussed his professional path, the intricate regulatory landscape of prediction markets, and his insights on betting and trading.
When asked about his role at ProphetX, Schwartz explained that he was involved in various operational tasks and collaborated closely with product and engineering teams to innovate within the prediction market framework. A significant project during his tenure was the launch of a beta version of the RFQ parlay product in early fall 2025.
Schwartz decided to leave ProphetX to focus on his newsletter, which he envisions as a vital source of market intelligence for the prediction market industry. He aims to create the top daily newsletter for this sector, targeting industry leaders, traders, and investors.
Additionally, he is developing a Spotlight series featuring interviews with prominent figures in the prediction market space, with the first interview published on July 21 with Novig CEO Jacob Fortinsky. Schwartz anticipates a surge in prediction market news as the NFL and college football seasons approach.
