SBC Summit Americas: Insights on Gaming's Future and World Cup

The SBC Summit Americas recently convened in Florida, gathering operators, regulators, and suppliers from across the continent. Central to the discussions were key topics such as prediction markets, artificial intelligence, regulatory changes, and the anticipated growth in Latin America. For Betsson Group, the event highlighted the industry's shift towards long-term transformation while still addressing the challenges posed by rapidly evolving markets.

In an interview with Yogonet during the summit, Andrea Rossi, the Commercial Director for LatAm at Betsson Group, shared insights on the company's strategy for the ongoing World Cup, the rising interest in prediction markets, and the regulatory landscape in Latin America.

When asked about his key takeaways from the panels at SBC Summit Americas, Rossi emphasized the strong emphasis on innovation and emerging trends, particularly regarding prediction markets and the increasing influence of technology and artificial intelligence. He noted that discussions were less focused on current issues and more on the future direction of the industry.

However, he acknowledged the importance of current practices, stressing that operators must act responsibly while regulators need to enhance regulatory frameworks to ensure sustainable market growth. The ultimate aim is to create environments that benefit both operators and encourage users to engage with regulated markets.

One prominent topic during the summit was the World Cup. Rossi expressed that this year's tournament, taking place in Mexico, Canada, and the United States, is particularly favorable for Latin American audiences due to more accommodating match schedules. With 104 matches and participation from countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, Betsson is well-prepared, having launched their World Cup campaign ahead of time.

On the subject of prediction markets, Rossi remarked on the philosophical debate surrounding their regulation. He believes that while eliminating prediction markets is unlikely, the focus should be on creating intelligent regulatory frameworks that allow them to coexist within existing regulated environments. He sees this as an opportunity that regulators are likely aware of, with the challenge being to determine whether these markets should be classified as entertainment or financial products.

Reflecting on the regulatory outlook for Latin America, Rossi noted that significant progress was made in Peru and Brazil last year, and he is optimistic about developments in Chile as well.
