On September 1, Chile's telecom regulator Subtel mandated internet providers Entel, Movistar, Claro, GTD, WOM, and VTR to block 42 iGaming operator addresses operating in the country without permission within 48 hours.
This action follows a permanent blocking mechanism approved by the Santiago Appeals Court on August 7.
The blocked addresses include popular sites such as Stake, 1xBet, 1win, Melbet, Betano, Betsson, bet365, BC.GAME, TonyBet, Pin-Up, BetFury, Coolbet, Novibet, Betcris, JackpotCity, Rabona, Jugabet, Rojabet, and Betsala.
Before the deadline, at least Betano, Betsson, Coolbet, Rojabet, and Betsala restored access for Chilean players through new addresses, informing clients about the safety of their accounts and balances. Coolbet also launched a promotional campaign, according to local media reports.
According to Subtel's head, the blocking mechanism operates cyclically, and future lists of blocked addresses could include hundreds of entries.
