The prediction market platform Polymarket has opened access for users in the USA to live streams of sports events directly on its product, allowing them to trade related event contracts simultaneously.
The company has signed an agreement with sports data provider Genius Sports, acquiring exclusive rights to stream Italian Serie A football matches and several other official competitions, along with the use of league branding.
Under the terms of the agreement, Genius Sports will supply the platform with the same official data used by the leagues for determining outcomes and settling event contracts. Polymarket will also engage in information-sharing processes regarding competition integrity, providing leagues and federations with insights into trading activity surrounding their tournaments and enabling real-time responses to unusual trading patterns.
In contrast, the prediction market platform Kalshi has also signed an agreement with Genius Sports but did not secure rights for sports streaming. Kalshi will have access to official data across the entire football portfolio of the provider, including the Premier League, Serie A, Liga MX, Argentine Primera, and Ligue 1.
