The Plaza Hotel & Casino, located in the heart of Las Vegas, has launched a brand-new high-limit slots area featuring over 50 slot machines with elevated betting options.
Spanning 2,000 square feet, this modern space showcases the latest in slot machine themes, offers personalized guest services, and includes a dedicated concierge desk. Top-tier members of the Plaza’s Players Club can conveniently check into their hotel rooms from this exclusive area.
Casino hosts are available to assist guests with dining reservations at Oscar’s Steakhouse, facilitate hotel room upgrades, reserve rooftop pool cabanas, and provide activity recommendations throughout Las Vegas.
The design of the room merges classic Las Vegas aesthetics with contemporary touches, highlighted by dark hues, gold Art Deco accents, and luxurious upholstery. Additionally, it can be transformed into a private event venue, complete with counter space for food and drinks and a lounge area for sports viewing.
Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino, commented, “With the introduction of the High Limit Slots Room, our aim was not only to offer the latest and most sought-after games with higher betting limits but also to enhance personalized customer service, including hotel check-ins and a dedicated concierge.”
He further noted, “The Plaza is continuously evolving its offerings to align with the changing preferences of our guests. We have observed a growth in our slot business as we attract more high-end players, and many of our long-time patrons have requested this gaming feature.”
The slot machines in this new room are equipped with Acres Cashless Gaming technology, allowing for Apple Pay and other electronic payment options. Players can also access unattended jackpots, an ATM/TITO redemption machine, 24-hour cocktail service, and complimentary chilled non-alcoholic drinks.
These machines facilitate jackpot processing without the need for staff intervention, significantly reducing payout wait times. This feature is particularly beneficial for high-limit players who often reach reporting thresholds with substantial bets.
“When betting $250 per spin, hitting $2,000 can happen quite frequently,” Jossel explained. Federal jackpot tax reporting remains applicable as required.
As of January 1, 2026, the federal reporting threshold for slot jackpots will rise to $2,000 from the previous $1,200, following the enactment of the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This marks the first inflation-adjusted increase since 1977.
This new threshold will result in fewer manual jackpot payouts for high-denomination players. However, recent federal tax changes have also restricted gambling loss deductions to 90% of winnings for the 2026 tax year, down from 100%. This alteration means that frequent gamblers may incur tax liabilities even when their wins and losses are roughly balanced.
Jossel mentioned that the Plaza has plans for further expansion, including new dining and beverage concepts. “We are just getting started,” he asserted.
To celebrate the launch, the Plaza has teamed up with social media influencer Travel Ruby to host a $10,000 grand opening slot tournament on August 28 and 29.
Players who accumulate at least 1,000 slot points in the High Limit Room will also have the opportunity to win a Virgin Cruise Experience for two.
