On July 16, Gennady Novikov, the head of the gambling regulator PlayCity in Ukraine, submitted his resignation via a post on Facebook. However, he did not disclose the reasons for his departure.
During his tenure, Novikov highlighted one of the key achievements as the launch of the State Online Monitoring System (DOSM) in a test phase. According to Novikov, the agency has connected 28 out of 30 licensed gambling operators to the system, providing the government with a comprehensive digital overview of the market for the first time.
In the near future, the agency plans to announce a tender for the second phase of DOSM, with the full functionality of the system expected to be operational later this year. Among other achievements, Novikov noted the introduction of digital license issuance through the Diya app and established communication channels with Meta, Google, TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, Viber, and Kick to remove illegal advertisements and websites of unlicensed casinos.
