The platform saw over $590 million traded on individual Week 1 NFL contracts, making it the second-largest event volume in its history, surpassed only by its 2026 World Cup winner market, according to Time.
Additionally, Kalshi set a new daily record on Sunday with $2.433 billion in trading volume. The Dallas Cowboys' matchup against the New York Giants generated the highest volume among individual NFL games, reaching $112.8 million.
The Minnesota Vikings' thrilling comeback against the Green Bay Packers attracted $39.6 million, the highest for daytime games, while the New York Jets' victory over the Tennessee Titans brought in $8.4 million.
Polymarket reported $404 million in volume on Sunday, which is lower than the average of $532 million per day observed during the World Cup, according to Front Office Sports.
This surge in trading coincided with a high-scoring opening week, where fourteen players achieved multiple rushing or receiving touchdowns, ten teams scored at least 30 points, and nine out of the thirteen games on Sunday exceeded the total points line.
By the conclusion of Monday night’s game, the NFL had matched its post-merger Week 1 scoring record of 791 combined points, originally set in 2012, with the 16 games averaging 49.44 total points.
