The government of Nepal has ordered the blocking of all iGaming operator websites and applications as part of a 100-point reform program. This decision was made on March 29, and the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), in collaboration with internet service providers, executed the block within 24 hours.
A representative from the Ministry of Communications stated that the Criminal Code 2074 (2017) and the Advertising Act prohibit the activities of iGaming operators, the promotion of online gambling, and its advertising. Violators face penalties including confiscation of earnings, imprisonment for up to one year, and fines of up to $66.
