UK Parish Council Website Hacked with Casino Affiliate Landing Page

In the UK, the website of the parish council for the village of Old Catton, near Norwich, was hacked by unknown individuals. They replaced the contact page with an affiliate landing page in Indonesian, promoting several online casinos including RUSA33, Slot777, Slot Maxwin, and Slot Gacor, along with an explicit image of an unidentified woman.

The council promptly removed the altered page upon discovery, and the website is currently operating normally. However, the circumstances surrounding how the landing page was uploaded to the site and the identity of those responsible remain unclear, and an investigation is ongoing.

The website is hosted on a .co.uk domain, while hundreds of smaller councils transitioned to the more secure .gov.uk last year.
