Major Sweepstakes Casino Operators Exit Indiana Amid New Ban

Following the enactment of Indiana's new sweepstakes casino law on July 1, numerous prominent operators in the industry have ceased their operations in the state. Notable brands such as Chumba Casino, Stake.us, McLuck, and WOW Vegas have all pulled out.

VGW, a leading name in the sector, has also withdrawn its entire portfolio, which includes LuckyLand Slots, LuckyLand Casino, Global Poker, and United Slots.

Other significant operators that have exited include Sweepstakes Ltd. (Stake.us), B-Two Operations (McLuck, Hello Millions, Jackpota, Mega Bonanza, PlayFame, and SpinBlitz), and MW Services Ltd. (WOW Vegas, Rolla, and MetaWin).

In a different approach, Utech Solutions opted to transition its brands—such as Scarlet Sands, MrGoodwin, VegasWay, SweepShark, JackpotRabbit, Playtana, Sweepico, FireSevens, and DexyPlay—to a Gold Coin play format, focusing solely on entertainment rather than sweepstakes.

A1 Developments has similarly removed sweepstakes promotional play from its offerings, including Funrize, Fortune Wheelz, FunzCity, NoLimitCoins, StormRus, and TaoFortune, while still providing Tournament Point (Gold Coins) gameplay.

Additionally, Gambling Insider has confirmed that several other operators have ceased their sweepstakes activities in Indiana, including Fliff Inc. (Fliff and Sidepot), Golden Hearts Inc. (Golden Hearts), Rolling Riches, Smiles Casino, Thrillz, and Dara Casino.

This wave of exits follows the introduction of Indiana's law prohibiting online sweepstakes games that utilize a dual-currency system, which was signed into law earlier this year.

In the lead-up to the law's enforcement, many operators began winding down their sweepstakes offerings in May and June. Companies like Blazesoft (Fortune Wins, Zula, Sportzino, Yay Casino, American Luck, Luck Party, Win Bonanza), Yellow Social (Pulsz, Pulsz Bingo), ARB Interactive (Modo), High 5 Entertainment (High 5 Casino), and Woopla Inc. (Funzpoints) were among those scaling back.

Despite the significant exits, as of July 2, numerous sweepstakes casino platforms were still reported to be accepting players from Indiana, with no geoblocks or updated restrictions implemented yet.

In addition to the operator exits, there have been reports of changes in game availability. Players in Indiana have noted on online forums that they lost access to Hacksaw Gaming titles prior to July 1. Hacksaw is a well-regarded provider in the sweepstakes sector, with popular games like Wanted: Dead or a Wild, Le Bandit, Le Zeus, Chaos Crew, and Pickle Bandits.

Looking ahead, the focus is now shifting to Maine, where a similar sweepstakes casino ban will take effect on July 15. Several operators, including Blazesoft, ARB, Woopla, and Yellow Social, have already exited the market in anticipation of this ban.

Louisiana is also expected to experience further operator withdrawals before its own sweepstakes casino ban is enforced on August 1. Earlier this year, many platforms had already exited the state due to intensified enforcement actions by local authorities.
