On May 25, a court in Curacao mandated iGaming operator LFG Gaming (brand Heybets.io) and its master licensee Gaming Service Provider to jointly pay $143.9K to the Curacao fund for the protection of affected players, SBGOK. This fund took on the claim from a Filipino player who lost $162.2K between July 6, 2023, and March 8, 2024.
The operator ignored multiple requests for self-exclusion and continued to grant the player free bets and bonuses, despite the fact that the player was losing an average of about $20K per month.
LFG Gaming operated under a sub-license from GSP, without a separate license in the Philippine market. By the time of the proceedings, LFG did not appear in court and was removed from the Curacao trade register in September 2024. The GSP license itself expired in August 2024.
The court classified the inaction of both parties as a violation of obligations in the field of responsible gaming and imposed responsibility on both companies. It established that GSP, as the master licensee, has an independent duty to monitor the protective measures of its sub-licensee. If LFG fails to pay the amount, GSP will be required to cover it, with the right to seek reimbursement from LFG and their beneficiary, Dominik Karim Jamiel.
