Las Vegas Sands Expands Tech Hiring in Dallas Amid Casino Push

Las Vegas Sands is actively recruiting for various technology positions in the Dallas area, particularly roles associated with casino management systems. This initiative aligns with the company's ongoing efforts, led by majority owner Miriam Adelson, to push for the legalization of destination resort gaming in Texas.

The firm, which operates casino resorts in Macau and Singapore, has recently listed multiple technical job openings based in Dallas. Some of these roles involve the comprehensive design and implementation of their casino management system (CMS), from its initial concept to its launch. Currently, casino gaming remains prohibited in Texas, necessitating a constitutional amendment approved by voters for legalization.

Ron Reese, the senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs at Las Vegas Sands, noted that the establishment of a Dallas office aims to bolster their technology operations, although no projects are presently active in the city.

According to Reese, the office was designed to “centralize our software development capabilities, enhance operational efficiency, and foster large-scale innovation.” He emphasized that the Dallas-Fort Worth area was selected due to its rich pool of technology talent, robust infrastructure, and favorable business environment.

“D-FW was chosen for its high concentration of skilled tech professionals, strong infrastructure, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem supported by top universities,” Reese stated. “The region’s connectivity across North America, cost-effective operational landscape, and business-friendly regulations facilitate sustainable growth and effective collaboration with partners.”

LinkedIn activity suggests that Las Vegas Sands has employed technical staff in the Dallas region since at least January 2025, with a job listing from August 2024 announcing five available technical positions.

This recruitment drive coincides with the Adelson family's expansion in North Texas, following their $3.5 billion acquisition of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks in late 2023.

The family has hinted that the Mavericks may vacate the American Airlines Center once their lease concludes in 2031. Dallas City Hall is being considered as a prime location for a proposed 50-acre entertainment district that could feature a new arena for the team. The Dallas City Council is currently deliberating the potential relocation of City Hall, with a final decision anticipated in June.

Simultaneously, the Adelsons are intensifying their efforts to legalize destination casino resorts in Texas. Since acquiring the Mavericks, Miriam Adelson has contributed over $156 million to political initiatives, primarily supporting Republican candidates and organizations. Reports indicate that approximately $29 million has been allocated to Texas political campaigns aimed at casino legalization.

This initiative has encountered opposition from Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who is against expanding gambling. However, Governor Greg Abbott has shown a willingness to consider destination-style casino resorts and the legalization of sports betting.

Furthermore, Las Vegas Sands acquired the former Texas Stadium site in Irving in 2023 and is pursuing zoning amendments that would allow the development of a resort complex with a casino, contingent upon the legalization of gambling in Texas.
