The government of North Macedonia has officially established a state monopoly on online gambling. On June 29, the Parliament passed a new gambling law, which came into effect on July 14.
This legislation grants the right to organize the online gambling segment exclusively to a state-owned joint-stock company, ensuring 100% government participation. Private companies will only be able to operate in the market as technology and content providers for the state company through public tenders.
The last active online operator, MegaWin, is allowed to continue operating under the old law until December 31, 2026. After this date, the state company will be the sole legal operator of online gambling in the country.
