Spain Implements Unified Deposit Limits for Online Players

On June 23, the Spanish Council of Ministers approved a royal decree establishing a unified deposit limit for online players. Previously, the limit was set for each operator individually, allowing players to exceed it by distributing deposits across multiple operators. Now, the limit is consolidated for each player and sums their deposits across all accounts with different operators.

The overall limit will be €700 per day, €1,750 per week, and €3,300 over four weeks. These restrictions are applied by default, but players will have the option to modify or remove them voluntarily through a separate procedure, which includes a warning about the associated risks.

The DGOJ regulator will oversee the system and develop a real-time monitoring tool to ensure compliance with the limits. This measure is expected to affect about one-third of active online players in Spain who engage with multiple operators.
