Since February 14, the iGaming segment has experienced abnormal volatility in Google search results.
SEO analyst Ole published a report on February 25 on iGamingToday regarding the volatility in Google's search results within the iGaming sector, which he associates with a possible unconfirmed update. The iGN editorial team highlights the following key data:
- 9,410 — the current Semrush Sensor reading, indicative of major updates.
- Wincher also notes a prolonged period of very high volatility with no signs of decline.
- Several sources report a slight decrease in volatility in other verticals; however, movement in online gambling continues in both directions.
- 50-75% — estimated drop in organic traffic for several major iGaming affiliates compared to peaks in 2025.
- 30-75% — losses for sites with parasite SEO.
- Websites with PBN networks, aggressive link building, and rented links have been particularly affected.
- English-language results have suffered the most, while local markets remain relatively stable.
- Authoritative media and large content sites focused on gambling remain the most resilient.
- Some webmasters working on drop domains and subdomains are still holding their positions, but the author believes this is a temporary phenomenon.
According to the author, these developments suggest a possible continuation of the August Spam Update or adjustments to the December Core Update of 2025, which Google has not officially confirmed.
The author also anticipates further algorithm adjustments in local markets.
