The German regulator GGL has raised the maximum bet on spins in licensed online slots from €1 to €3, with a special allowance for some players to bet up to €5. This change takes effect from July 1.
According to the new rules, players aged 21 and over can now wager up to €3 per spin. However, players can qualify for the €5 limit after maintaining a clean record without signs of problematic behavior for 90 days.
For players under 21, the previous limit of €1 remains in place.
This is the first time the regulator has utilized the provision in the 2021 state treaty on gambling that allows for adjustments to the betting limits. The decision was preceded by discussions among representatives of the federal states in the GGL's administrative council.
